Best thing about this picture is the reflection on the sand. The reflecting water has been done to death but this really works! I love how the sand color contributes to the reflection. The clouds are amazing *_* Great job! You resisted the urge to put the horizon in the middle too!
I was there in 2009 from Nov 22 through Dec 2 then from Dec 10 - 12 I was in Wellington on the way home. I fell in LOVE with New Zealand. I only got to see the North Island, but want to come back and see more. I went to Paihia, The Waipoua forest, Rotarua, Lake Taupo, Waiganui, The Tasman Sea (went in the water on a rainy day), then on to Wellington. We went by car on the windy hilly roads. It is so exceptionally beautiful and the lands is so clean and alive. M
Wow, you got to see alot in a short time and not that long ago! The climate and pretty much everything else is completely different from one region to the next. The South Island is quite a bit more relaxed than the North, slower pace of life with a smaller population. (nearly 1 million) Only 30,000 on the West Coast where I live, that is from the top of the west coast to the bottom. [link][link] If you ever get another chance, see the South Island - especially the west coast.. It will blow you away! Nearly all the photos I take are within an hours drive of home, and that's just a taste..
I so wanted to go to the South Island - I dream of seeing the Albatross you have there. It was just not in the cards - money and time I think I would enjoy living on the North Island - I like a more temperate climate, and I hear you get snow. We just had 6 inches here yesterday. M
Actually it was one of the small snowfalls this winter I have had lots of practice running the snow blower on my driveway. But we have also had a lot of time with just cold and no snow the weather is so strange lately. Lots of rain is more like the west coast here Oregon, Washington State. I live in the northeast of the US. M
